Lil Wayne: The Carter 4. It’s Here.

Here as in, you can buy it soon. I’m not the biggest fan of Lil Wayne. In fact, I can’t stand most of his music. But that isn’t all I have to say.

I’m not here to rant about Lil Wayne, just to point out something. I’m talking about real music here. Music that for the most part I think is under appreciated. Music by artists like Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. Music by artists like Lupe Fiasco. Music from Kaskade or Tiesto that pumps us up for a party. Even music from artists like Adele that we might listen to on a rainy day…

I’m not saying you have to give up Lil Wayne or stop listening to your favorite top 40 radio station that plays 5 songs on a loop all day, but I’d like to encourage people to broaden their musical horizons. Look past all the hype, the diamond-encrusted bracelets, the lip-syncing, the Kanye West collaborations and all the bullshit. Listen to music that actually makes you feel something. Music that tells a story. Music that’s different. Music that doesn’t have fucking autotune in it.

That’s my PSA for the evening. Check back soon for a new look and some new tunes. I’m trying to liven this place up a bit for the new school year. To my loyal follower(s?), thanks for sticking around.

I’m On One [Squared]: Two New Remixes

Today I have two remixes of “I’m On One” by Lil Wayne, Drake, and Rick Ross. I was skeptical of the original version of this song because I’m not really into the rap scene nowadays. But, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I like it, and these remixes are no exception.

I’m On One – Styles&Complete Remix

Check the SoundCloud players, download one or download them both. Enjoy.

Chill Dubstep Vibes: Sia – Breathe Me (Butch Clancy Remix)

There’s a whole lot to be said about this song, but I’m not going to say it because it speaks for itself. Butch Clancy has done an outstanding job complementing beautiful piano and vocals with bass and synth to create a relaxed electronic masterpiece.

It’s Been A While Folks: Finally A New Post

Hey all, I know I’ve been out for a month or so now, but things have been a little rough. I haven’t been 100% committed to this blog, and that’s the way it’s going to be for a while. I’ll throw up some stuff when I can.

Anyway, here’s a song I’ve been stuck on lately. Pretty Lights’ sick track from Bonnaroo “I Know the Truth.” Enjoy, I’ll be back soon.

You want it? You got it.

Limitations Begone!: Laid Back Mau5 Beat (TRyan – Pilot Sky Life)

Now that I’m more or less finished with college (whoa..), I can start posting some more interesting things. I’m not bound by limitations of my class criteria any more, but no worries, you guys will still be alerted to any new music and media that I come upon.

Also, sorry for not posting in forever. Studying and work have occupied a lot of my time as of late.

This song is pretty cool; it combines sampling from Deadmau5′ strobe with a hip hop vibe and lyrics provided by T Ryan. This is the first I’ve heard of him, and I immediately thought “Mac Miller.” Let me know what you think. And, welcome back 🙂

Here’s a download for T Ryan’s mixtape, The Other Side

It’s Hump Day. Here Are Some Mashups.

Maybe I haven’t been looking hard enough, but I’ve been having trouble finding decent mashups as of late. A few came up in my feed the last few days, however, so I thought I’d share them with everyone.

The Hood Internet – Love Motion (The Dream vs Panda Bear)

The White Panda – Why A G6 (Far East Movement vs Supermode)

The White Panda – Black and Naw (Wiz Khalifa vs Nappy Roots)
